UM’s Premier Scholarships
All students applying to UM are considered for merit-based scholarships. There is no separate application required at UM. However, students are advised to submit their applications early.
First-year and transfer students should be aware of application deadlines and regularly check the school’s website for updates. Students that require need-based aid must submit the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and other required additional documents in a timely manner.
All scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards upon admission and they can only receive one merit scholarship from the UM’s Office of Undergraduate Admission.

Stamps Scholarship
One of the Premier Scholarships awarded by the University of Miami is the Stamps Scholarship. This scholarship is available for academically highly qualified high school seniors.
Recipients of the Stamps Scholarship will receive the total four-year cost of attendance of undergraduate study. The Stamps award covers tuition & fees, room & board, textbooks, laptop allowance, and UM health insurance.
They also may qualify for the school’s $12,000 enrichment fund that can be used for undergraduate research, studying abroad, an unpaid internship, or some other educational purpose.
Isaac Bashevis Singer Scholarship
UM’s Isaac Bashevis Singer Scholarship is named after Nobel Prize-winning author Isaac Bashevis Singer who was one of UM’s lecturers.
This Premier Scholarship is available to academically accomplished and exceptional high school graduates. Recipients of the Singer Scholarship will receive the total tuition cost of four-year undergraduate tuition at UM. Ronald A Hammond Scholarship
Another UM Premier Scholarship is the Ronald A Hammond Scholarship that honors the legacy of UM’s first director of minority affairs. This scholarship is awarded to a number of high school graduates that have demonstrated a great level of academic achievement and who are looking to continue their academic education through graduate programs. Recipients of the Hammond Scholarship will receive the full cost of four years of undergraduate tuition at UM.
Marta S and L Austin Weeks Scholarship
The Weeks Scholarship is one more UM Premier award available to high school graduates that have demonstrated exceptional academic accomplishments. Candidates for the prestigious Weeks Scholarship need to submit an essay to be considered for partaking in the final selection.
A Selection Committee will then review all submissions and select the finalists that will be recommended for the Weeks award. Recipients of the Weeks Scholarship will receive the total cost of four years of undergraduate tuition at UM.
George W Jenkins Scholarship
UM’s Jenkins scholarship is another of the school’s prestigious Premier Scholarships. The award is for high school graduates with exceptional academic credentials who had to overcome adversity and have financial need. Applicants need to be nominated by their school’s guidance counselor.
Recipients of the Jenkins Scholarship will receive the entire cost of attending four years of UM’s undergraduate programs. The Jenkins award covers tuition & fees, room & board, laptop allowance, and UM health insurance. They may qualify for a stipend for textbooks and other expenses as well. Stamps Ensemble Scholarship
The highly prestigious Stamps Ensemble Scholarship is a four-year award available to an elite group of highly qualified and talented UM’s incoming students to form chamber ensembles.
This full-tuition award includes room & board and is only available to highly qualified full-time students majoring in music. To qualify for this talent and merit-based scholarship, students are required to demonstrate talent and skill through a live audition. Athletic Scholarship
UM’s Hurricanes are members of the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference)-NCAA Div. I. The school offers several Athletic Scholarships and more information can be obtained by contacting the appropriate coach at the University of Miami or by checking out the Hurricane Athletics website.
You may also want to learn all about the Florida Prepaid College Plan. This a program guaranteed by the State of Florida that helps families with paying for their kids’ education at public universities and colleges. Under the program, tuition costs are locked at a level from the year program was purchased.
National Merit Scholarship Competition
UM’s National Merit Scholarships Program is a competition for academic recognition and provides scholarships for high school graduates. Finalists in the National Merit Competition who name the University of Miami as their best and first choice are eligible to receive a college-sponsored $1K or $2K National Merit Award. The maximum amount will only be paid out to students who have demonstrated that their financial need exceeds $2,000.
